Can I feed the animals in the park?
- light colored clothing made of light material (cotton) - do pack anything white, red, blue, or black because those colors can attract animals and Tsetse flies
- a few pairs of pants and some long shirts to wear when temperatures drop in the park at night
- lightweight waterproof jacket because it can be cold in the mornings so it is best to dress in layers
- good sneakers if you plan on doing any walking
- hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect you from the sun
- Anti-malarial drugs since Kruger National Park is in a malarial area
- But be careful, one of the biggest mistakes people make is overpacking!
Which part of Kruger National Park should I visit?

Will I see the big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, rhino)?
- You will most likely see some of the big 5 on your visit to Kruger National Park. Although it is not guaranteed that you will see all of the big 5, the park has such rich diversity that you will definitely see many other fascinating species on your trip!
Will I be safe from animals at night?
- Yes, the camps are closed off from wildlife by gates. It is important that you reach your camp before the gates close at night.
Is water safe to drink?
- Yes, but bottled water is also provided
Should I be worried about Malaria?
- Kruger National Park is a malaria risk zone, however the park gets over a million visitors per year and only a few reported incidents of malaria. There is a higher risk for Malaria during the wet season (October - May), but precautions can be taken. Consult your doctor about taking an anti-malarial drug and while you stay at the park, keep your arms and legs covered while at the park, and use bug spray regularly during your stay.
Can I feed the animals in the park?
- No! You will be fined if you feed the animals. Feeding animals could cause them to stop fearing humans and they may become aggressive.
